The Bunker Boys - Champions
The Bunker Bar v Tony’s Tiger
The final days of the MBMG Matchplay league could not have been closer. 3 teams on 21 points and the 4th team on 20 points and only our game against Tony” Tigers at Phoenix to be played.
Tony had assembled a strong team needing only a half to be crowned champions and 9 of his team with handicaps of 10 and less. But The Bunker boys are a tough bunch and would fight all the way.
PJ Redmond was disadvantaged against Brian Jacks receiving only 3 shots when the handicap difference was 8 but he took the match to the 16th and was supported by Ron Ryan who came in with a valuable half coming back from dormy 2.

Emerald Golf Club
Playing a “Rainbow” round of golf for a change the golfers showed up in force making it necessary to have two flights. A “Rainbow” competition is where the player’s have to play 6 holes off the back tees, 6 holes off the front tees and 6 holes off the middle tees (usually white) in any order and Stableford scoring method is used. MBMG Sponsors of the Matchplay League
Monday October 27th was the date for the most recent round of the MBMG Matchplay League in Pattaya. Good, clean living must have been the reason that the deluge that hit Pattaya on Monday circled Burapha, for not a drop of rain interfered with this match play event.
Other than being very wet in parts, the course was in good condition, at least conditions that turned out to suit The Bunker Boys who went on to win the event by a very convincing 7 matches to 3.
This result puts The Bunker Bar in third place and still with a chance to go on and win the league.
The rainy season is usually all but over by this time of the year but it played havoc with the golf today with only half of the field completing their round.
Of the die-hards who managed to finish their round, Tony Scambler won the Stableford competition and he also won two of the near pin prizes. Runner up was Mikito Homma who beat Tony Berry on a count back.
Dave Booton and William Macey were the other two winners of the near pins.

John Preddy - Not Forgotten!
The annual John Preddy Memorial Tournament is upon us once again and this increasingly popular golf tournament will be held at the Greenwood Golf Club this year. It’s hard to believe that it is over two years since John passed away but his memory will live on with his name proudly adorning this magnificent trophy.
The trophy was donated by John’s brother Jim who has been a frequent visitor to Thailand for over twenty years and Jim, along with John’s other brother Donald although not golfer’s themselves, will both be here to lend their support.
For all golfer’s who will be in Thailand in November and who wish to participate please contact us by email and BOOK EARLY to avoid disappointment!

William celebrating his win.
Playing Stableford at Khaow Kheow was a little unusual today as there were a couple of high scores resulting in the two offenders’ handicaps being cut! William Macey in the A Flight and Mikito Homma in the B Flight both scored 39 points and that takes some doing at this always difficult track.
The handicap cut was pretty low set at 13 which meant Gordon Melia and “Charlie” Gooch found themselves in the B Flight. Gordon took second place and Charlie surprisingly getting third place with only 30 points.

Greenwood Clubhouse
A large field turned up again for Greenwood golf course so there were two flights for the Stableford competition with the cut being made at handicap 15.
As Greenwood staff have been messing around with the tee boxes in previous games here it was decided that the A flight low handicap player’s would play off the blue tees at the back and the B Flight would play off the white tees further forward.
As the round progressed it became obvious that the white tees were actually in their correct positions for the first time in months so we need not have split the groups! There you go - this is Thailand!

PJ contemplating life!
A large field turned up for the trip to the ever popular Emerald golf course so there were two flights for the Stableford competition with the cut being made at handicap 16.
The scores were very close in both flights “PJ” winning the B flight by one point ahead of Reg Smart who beat Colin Stokes on a count back.
In the A flight John Graham won with the same number of points beating Ron Ryan by one point and one point further back in third place was Mashi Kaneta.
